Founding Mechanical Engineer

Type
Full-time
Location
Mumbai
Experience
1–4 years preferred
Compensation
55,000 INR/month

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys designing, building, analyzing, and improving real mechanical systems. Hands-on across the full product development cycle — from concept sketches and CAD models to vendor coordination, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing support. You’ll work on machine design, robotics, automation systems, precision mechanisms, fixtures, structures, and custom engineering solutions for clients.

What you’ll do

  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, mechanisms, fixtures, and machine elements.
  • Create 3D CAD models, 2D manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation.
  • Perform engineering calculations for strength, stiffness, tolerance stack-up, motion, load paths, and manufacturability.
  • Support prototype development, vendor communication, fabrication, assembly, and testing.
  • Select appropriate materials, bearings, motors, fasteners, linear guides, actuators, sensors, and off-the-shelf components.
  • Work with manufacturing vendors for machining, sheet metal, 3D printing, fabrication, and finishing.
  • Improve designs based on prototype testing, client feedback, cost, reliability, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Create clear technical documentation, design reports, and project updates.
  • Collaborate across electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and business teams.
  • Contribute to internal design tools, templates, engineering workflows, and best practices.

Required

  • +Strong fundamentals in mechanical design, machine design, mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • +Proficiency in at least one CAD tool — SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, Onshape, Creo, or CATIA.
  • +Ability to create clean 3D models and production-ready 2D drawings.
  • +Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, fits, fasteners, bearings, shafts, gears, sheet metal, and machined parts.
  • +Familiarity with prototyping and manufacturing methods — CNC machining, laser cutting, 3D printing, sheet metal, welding, assembly.
  • +Clear communication with vendors, clients, and internal teammates.
  • +Hands-on problem-solving mindset.

Good to have

  • +Experience with robotics, automation, test rigs, precision mechanisms, or industrial equipment.
  • +Basic FEA knowledge — SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys, Fusion 360 Simulation, or similar.
  • +Experience with motion components — motors, gearboxes, actuators, belts, pulleys, linear rails, ball screws.
  • +Knowledge of DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-up, error budgeting, or reliability testing.
  • +Built physical prototypes or strong personal engineering projects.
  • +Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or basic controls — a plus, not required.

Best fit if you

  • Like converting rough ideas into working hardware.
  • Are comfortable with both CAD and hands-on prototyping.
  • Care about engineering details, not just visual design.
  • Can work independently in an early-stage environment.
  • Want exposure to diverse mechanical engineering problems across industries.
  • Enjoy learning quickly and taking ownership of real projects.

Qualifications

  • ·Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • ·1–4 years of relevant experience preferred. Strong freshers with excellent project work may also apply.
  • ·A portfolio of CAD models, prototypes, machines, robotics projects, fixtures, or engineering projects is strongly encouraged.

What you’ll get

  • Real machine design and hardware development projects.
  • Exposure to robotics, automation, precision engineering, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
  • A high-ownership role in a growing engineering company.
  • Direct mentorship from experienced mechanical design engineers.
  • A practical, hands-on environment where your designs are expected to become real products.

Send your resume and 2–3 examples of mechanical design or prototyping work you’re proud of. Portfolio, CAD renders, photos of physical builds — anything that shows how you think and what you’ve made.

We’re looking for someone who can help PiVector Labs generate qualified leads, build awareness, and convert interested prospects into customer conversations. Comfortable with both outbound sales and marketing execution. You don’t need to be a mechanical engineer — but you should be curious enough to understand technical services and explain them clearly to founders, engineering managers, product teams, and manufacturing companies.

Sales & lead generation

  • Identify and research potential customers in robotics, automation, hardware startups, medical devices, manufacturing, and precision engineering.
  • Build targeted lead lists using LinkedIn, company websites, startup databases, and industry directories.
  • Run outbound email and LinkedIn campaigns introducing PiVector Labs’ engineering design services.
  • Qualify leads and schedule discovery calls with potential customers.
  • Maintain a simple CRM or tracking sheet for leads, conversations, follow-ups, and deal status.
  • Support proposal preparation, sales decks, and client-facing material.
  • Follow up consistently with prospects after calls, events, or inbound inquiries.

Marketing

  • Create and publish LinkedIn posts, short articles, case-study-style content, and website updates.
  • Turn technical work into clear, simple marketing messages that business and engineering audiences can understand.
  • Support email campaigns, newsletters, and landing pages.
  • Help promote PiVector Labs’ free engineering tools — Error Budget, PartsFinder, and Flexure Designer.
  • Track basic marketing metrics — website visits, campaign responses, LinkedIn engagement, inbound leads.
  • Research competitor positioning and identify opportunities for clearer messaging.

Business development

  • Identify partnerships with hardware accelerators, design firms, manufacturing companies, incubators, and engineering communities.
  • Support outreach to event organizers, podcasts, newsletters, and industry communities.
  • Help prepare collateral for webinars, workshops, demos, and sales meetings.

Required

  • +Excellent written and spoken English.
  • +Basic understanding of B2B sales and marketing.
  • +Experience with LinkedIn, email outreach, Google Sheets/Excel, and CRM-style tracking.
  • +Ability to research companies and identify relevant decision-makers.
  • +Basic content writing ability for LinkedIn, email campaigns, and website copy.
  • +Strong follow-up discipline.

Nice to have

  • +Sold or marketed technical services, SaaS, engineering services, manufacturing services, or B2B products.
  • +Familiarity with HubSpot, Apollo, Clay, Instantly, Mailchimp, Notion, Canva, Figma, or Webflow.
  • +Interest in hardware startups, robotics, mechanical design, industrial automation, or product development.
  • +Prior internship or work experience in sales, marketing, business development, or founder’s-office roles.
  • +Ability to create simple visuals, pitch decks, or one-page marketing collateral.

Best fit if you

  • ·Write professional emails that get read.
  • ·Are curious about engineering, hardware products, robotics, manufacturing, or industrial tech.
  • ·Are comfortable with LinkedIn outreach, cold email, and follow-up.
  • ·Can manage multiple leads and tasks without losing track.
  • ·Can simplify technical ideas into clear, customer-friendly messaging.
  • ·Are comfortable in an early-stage environment where systems are still being built.
  • ·Are self-driven, practical, and willing to experiment with different sales and marketing approaches.

Success at 3 months

  • A clear database of target customers and decision-makers.
  • Consistent outbound campaigns running.
  • Qualified sales conversations on the calendar.
  • Reusable email templates, LinkedIn messages, and sales collateral.
  • Regular LinkedIn and website content shipping.
  • A clearer picture of which customer segments respond best.

Send a short note + LinkedIn or résumé. Include one example of outbound copy, a LinkedIn post, or any sales/marketing artifact you’re proud of. Mumbai-based candidates can be structured as fixed monthly salary plus performance incentives for qualified meetings or converted clients.
